For Mexican head to Guzman Y Gomez

Imagine my excitement when I heard that a Mexican restaurant was opening in the Oracle in Broadbeach! I was lucky enough to taste some authentic Mexican in Los Angeles a few years ago, so I was quite keen to compare the authenticity of Guzman's food. I love the casual decor of bright yellow furniture and brick walls, with the added bonus of large outdoor seating areas.

We ordered a frozen margarita to share, some tacos and burritos. The food is fairly cheap and definitely worth the money.

My favourite so far has been the grilled pork chipotle filling, not for the faint hearted...it is very spicy! I also enjoy the vegetarian mini burrito filled with rice, cheddar cheese, black beans, sautéed onion, capsicum, mushrooms, salsa and guacamole. All this for only $6.50.
Soft taco

A handy tip is to order the burrito bowl for $10.50, you won't get the wrap but you will get a lot more filling and can easily share this between two people.

I am so totally in love with their little condiments station to the left of the main counter. According to an American friend, these stations are quite commonly found in Mexican restaurants in the States. Free plastic take-away containers are supplied next to chopped red onion, jalapenos, coriander and a range of chipotle and jalapeno sauces. Loving this!!
Guzman is perfect for a take-away or a quick sit-down meal with the family or when you're on the go...and imho it comes pretty close to authentic Mexican plus it's cheap and super tasty. Now I only wish they sold fajitas too!
